That’s the Ford-built 6.7L Power Stroke® V8 Turbo Diesel. The Power Stroke features a graphite iron engine block that is stronger yet lighter than cast iron. Aluminum cylinder heads with precision dual water jackets reduce weight and improve cooling. Class-exclusive* inboard exhaust and outboard air induction architecture helps reduce turbo lag. The class-exclusive* single-sequential turbocharger uses the compact, efficient design of a dual-sided compressor wheel to help generate maximum power — and deliver it quickly with 30 psi of boost. Another great feature is the high-pressure commonrail induction system which, operating at nearly 30,000 psi, delivers up to five injections per combustion cycle for optimum throttle response and fuel efficiency, as well as reduced noise, vibration and harshness (NVH). What’s more, the Power Stroke is equipped with instant-start glow plugs for quick start-ups, even at extremely low temperatures.

Class-Exclusive Single-Sequential Turbocharger

When you need power, you need it now. That’s why the class-exclusive* single-sequential turbocharger of the available 6.7L Power Stroke® V8 Diesel is located between the cylinder heads and the top of the block, and the exhaust manifold positioned inboard and adjacent to the turbocharger. Closer proximity means faster air displacement and more power. Consider also the fact that this turbocharger uses single-shaft design, a dual-sided compressor wheel and articulating turbine vanes that vary the flow of air based on the accelerator – and you have a turbocharger that generates on-demand performance with negligible turbo lag.

6.2L V8 Gas Engine

The E85-capable 6.2L gas V8 features a single overhead camshaft design and dual-equal variable cam timing — advanced features that help optimize power throughout the speed range as well as fuel efficiency. Large, heavy-duty pistons, intake and exhaust valves and a large engine bore diameter also help deliver outstanding horsepower and torque for effortless on-the-job performance* — plus the fuel efficiency you need to grow your bottom line.** For power conversion to compressed natural gas (CNG) or liquid propane gas (LPG), Ford offers the flexibility of the CNG/LPG Gaseous Engine Prep Package, available for F-250 and F-350 models.†

SelectShift® Operating Modes

The SelectShift® feature of the 6-speed TorqShift® automatic transmission has two driver-initiated modes. The available Ford-built 6.7L Power Stroke® V8 Turbo Diesel is designed from the ground up to deliver power, efficiency and quiet operation. Trailer Sway Control

Standard on the Super Duty® pickup and single-rear-wheel chassis cab models, Trailer sway control helps keep whatever you’re towing doing what you want it to do, not what the forces of gravity and inertia want it to do. This control is accomplished through selective wheel braking and reduced engine power to help keep your trailer behind you through high winds, turns and rain-soaked roads.*

Best-in-Class Maximum Towing and Payload

The Ford Super Duty® comes through in a big way in the everyday task of towing big loads, with best-in-class conventional (18,500 lbs.) and 5th-wheel (24,700 lbs.) towing capacities.* Maximum payload (7,260 lbs.) is best-in-class too. This can have a huge impact on your bottom line

5th-Wheel/Gooseneck Hitch Prep Package

With the 5th-Wheel/Gooseneck Hitch Prep Package, you can use a 5th-wheel hitch or a gooseneck ball to tow the really big loads. This package, available on 6-3/4-ft. and 8-ft. pickup boxes, offers you the strength of a factory-installed 5th wheel and gooseneck substructure attached to the frame and maintains a flat cargo load floor. This patented system is covered by a Ford limited warranty* and is compatible with 5th-Wheel and Gooseneck Hitch Kits offered through the factory and Ford Custom Accessories.

Tow/Haul Mode with Engine Exhaust Braking Function

The available Power Stroke® 6.7L V8 Turbo Diesel with 6-speed TorqShift® transmission utilizes seamless engine exhaust braking and selective gearing to improve control on steep downhill grades and minimize brake wear. While you’re in tow/haul mode and tapping the brake pedal, the engine back pressure is automatically adjusted and the transmission holds a specific gear (depending on grade) to help slow the vehicle. This is a big-rig feature you’ll really appreciate when you need extra control while coming down that 8% grade.

Hill Start Assist/Hill Descent Control™

When you’re crawling up a steep hill, the standard hill start assist feature automatically holds the brake on an incline to help prevent backward roll when switching your foot from the brake to the gas. This is especially helpful when towing big loads. Conversely, when going downhill you need the Hill Descent Control,™ included on single-rear-wheel pickups with the available FX4 Off-Road Package. To activate it, push the Hill Descent Control button, press the brake once to set the desired speed and hold the steering wheel. Then the system applies brake pressure as needed to descend grades at a controlled speed.

Electronic Locking Rear Differential

Work is hardly ever in a perfect location. What starts as a level patch of dirt usually turns into a rutted mud pit. But that’s where the available electronic locking rear differential goes to work. It locks the rear axle completely to maximize traction at both wheels simultaneously, providing excellent off-road traction in either 4×2 or 4×4 mode. What’s more, you activate the system at the touch of a switch without having to get out of the cab.

Integrated Trailer Brake Controller

Super Duty®has the first factory-installed, fully integrated trailer brake controller (TBC) available in a full-size pickup, so there are no installation hassles or aftermarket worries. Integrated with the ABS and trailer sway control, TBC synchronizes vehicle and trailer brakes for seamless braking, even with the heaviest loads. The Ford TBC offers the advantage of verified compatibility with trailers (one to four axles) utilizing electrically actuated drum brakes and certain electric-over-hydraulic (EOH) actuated drum or disc brake systems.

Class-Exclusive Tailgate Step

You already have the best-in-class maximum payload capacity (7,260 lbs.).* The class-exclusive* available integrated tailgate step makes it easier to access all of that payload. This step stows inside the tailgate, can be easily accessed when needed and includes a flipup grab bar. Also, it has a 350-lb. load capacity, so even the big guys don’t have to sweat it.

It’s a conventional AC plug-in outlet, located at the rear of the available center console, to power whatever you need to get things done. Under-Seat Locking Storage

Keep important items like your laptop, tools and blueprints under lock and key thanks to under-seat locking storage compartments beneath the 1st- and 2nd-row seats (availability varies by model/seat configuration). Included also in the 2nd-row compartment is a convenient 12-volt powerpoint.
